Even though the French got a PK that they didn't deserve in the world's biggest game and that somehow Zidane shouldn't have been red carded for headbutting a player for on-field trash talk.
What does this indicate regarding the mentality of certain supporters?
With the Aussie game Italy had a man sent off for an overly punitive red card that no one seems to mention. All you hear about is the PK Italy got at game end when they had to play the match with only 10 men.
Answer on Did you notice how many Italians expressed disappointment in the NT's performance, but the French didn't in 06?
You can lose and lose. It's the way that we performed that disappointed me. This will never take away my attachment to my own country and its football team, but as a supporter I think there are times when not being happy with performances is only a given and in fact beneficial so that the players sort themselves out.
As for the rest I completely and absolutely agree with you. No one mentiones the way France got the PK which tbh is arguably the same as Grosso's vs Australia.
Every Italy hater easily forgets to mention Materazzi's red card. Not only that, but everyone forgets Australia shouldn't have even been playing that game, as they scored an offside goal in the group stages which saw them reach the last 16 "unfairly".
When it's Italy's turn to be criticized everyone is always first to do it, especially the haters, yet they forget to mention all the other points. R035, I doubt that is every going to change.
To actually answer your Q: No I didn't realize. All i saw on Y!A, in real life, from when I went to France, the papers, other forums, etc were French people whining and crying over Materazzi....
Mimi you're gona deny the huge whistling from French fans at recent games or the booing and chanting against Domenech? That's still disappointment being expressed as far as I know. And I think R035's edit was somewhat of a joke =P =)
