Italy signed a mutual assistance pact Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. The three countries were known as the Axis powers. Italy had expansion asperations launching attacks against the Albanians, Greeks and British in North Africa. The Greeks and the British were basically kicking Italian butt so their German allies came to the rescue. The Germans conquered Greece and most of North Africa. This is a brief and superficial explaination of how WWII started in Europe and Italys part it it. Basically Italy's expansionist desires under Mussolini got them involved with what became WWII
