Yes, adding fiber to your diet can help with weight loss. However, it is not something I would recommend for weight loss on its own. Adding too much fiber to your diet can cause a host of issues with respect to going "Number 2." Fiber helps pass food through your tract and can help eliminate some extra pounds via such assistance. However, too much can cause constipation, as well as other issues. If you are looking to shed a few pounds, preparing for a 10k run should do that on its own. However, look into green tea, yohimbe, or even caffeine. All of these help increase your metabolism and provide other health benefits. If you are truly working to finish a 10k run, weight should not be an issue simply because it will shed as you run. God bless.
